The region's sand basin hills have created a remarkable formation, making it a must-see destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
Located just 80 kilometers west of Ulaanbaatar, the Khustai National Park covers a vast area that stretches from southwest to northeast, with an average height of 1500-1700 meters. The Khustai National Park is abundant with wildlife and vegetation, with over 2080 hectares of birch forest on the top and back of the mountain and almost 450 types of plants. The Khustai camp in the Khustai Mountains region is open all year round, with an exhibition hall that provides visitors with information about the Khustai region, showcasing documentaries about the implementation of the wildebeest reintroduction project. Since 1992, the joint Mongolian-Dutch Takhi project has been implemented in this region of the Khustai mountain range, with the takhi being considered the great ancestor of the Mongolian horse. In the early 19th century, the Russian scientist N.M. Prezhevalsky discovered the horse, which was then registered as Prezhevalsky's horse.
