Milk River

Milk River

Overview

As you venture through the stunning Bayan-Olgii Province in Mongolia, the Tsagaan River, also known as the Milk River, will captivate your senses. Originating from the magnificent Altai Tavan Bogd Mountain, the river flows majestically for 111 km before joining the Hovd River. What makes this river particularly unique is its brilliant white color, which is a result of the runoff from three of Mongolia's largest glaciers: Alexander, Graneg, and Potanin. In the summer, the snow and ice melt, creating a mesmerizing white sediment that flows along the riverbanks. The local people, who have lived alongside this beautiful river for generations, respectfully call it the Milk River. As you journey along its banks, be prepared to be awe-inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds you.
