Ulaan Tsutgalan

Uvurkhangai province, Bat-Ulzii soum

Overview

In the heart of Overkhangai Province lies the Ulaan tributary waterfall - a natural wonder that has captured the hearts of travelers from all corners of the world. The waterfall, which stands at an impressive 24 meters high, is fed by the Ulaan River, whose origins lie in the main ridge of Khangai.

As the river cascades down into the Orkhon Gorge, it creates a breathtaking two-branched waterfall that spans up to 30 meters in width. When the water is high, the two tributaries join together, resulting in a display of goods and natural beauty that is simply awe-inspiring.

One of the most unique features of the Ulaan waterfall is how the water falls. Rather than following the stone wall directly, the water spreads out 2-3 meters away, forming a pocket that is up to 3 meters deep. Visitors can even take a boat ride and experience the sensation of a refreshing shower on a hot summer day.

But the magic of Ulaan waterfall isn't limited to just the summer months. In the winter, the waterfall transforms into an ice wall, reaching up to 25 meters in height. This frozen wonderland has become a new type of adventure sport, with climbers from all over the world flocking to Ulaan to test their skills on the ice wall.

No matter what time of year you visit, the Ulaan waterfall never fails to amaze you. From the stunning rainbow that appears in the morning light to the ever-changing position of the rainbow as you move around the canyon, there is always something new and beautiful to discover at this breathtaking natural wonder.
